ولمّا استقلّتْ للرَّواحِ حُمولُهُم

ولمّا استقلّتْ للرَّواحِ حُمولُهُم

فلم يبقَ إلاّ شامتٌ وغَيورُ

فلم يبقَ إلاّ شامتٌ وغَيورُ

And when their laden camels rose to depart,

When their weary burdens were lifted

none remained but a gloater and a jealous one.

None remained but the envious and spiteful

وقفنا فمِنْ باكٍ يكفكفُ دمعَهُ

وقفنا فمِنْ باكٍ يكفكفُ دمعَهُ

وملتزمٍ قلباً يكادُ يَطيرُ

وملتزمٍ قلباً يكادُ يَطيرُ

We stood—one weeping, wiping away his tears,

We stood watching as some wept, wiping their tears

and another clutching a heart about to fly away.

While others concealed hearts ready to fly
