May kings and their days be your ransom.

And may their firm resolves endure for you to undo.

And may their feet stumble beneath your gaze.

And may their boldness vanish before your onslaught.

And had the hearts not been surrendered to you

in their love, their Islam would not be sound.

O reviver of justice, when its death was proclaimed

    by humankind's widows and its orphans;

and rescuer of the faith from a people

whose idols swept away the prayer niches:

you advanced against it, the lions following your tracks,

and bright swords and dark spears were their thickets.

You slaughtered its Jazira with swords,

until its Syria deemed it ill-omened.

And the borrowed holdings of its borderlands became,

whenever you wished, the cheapest of its wares on offer.
