يغُضُّ من سِحْر مُقْلَتَيْهِ
He gazed, and in his eye was a redness
My companion's eye was moist and red
that diminished the enchantment of his two eyes.
Diminishing the magic of his gaze

dyed crimson by the roses of his cheeks.
Dyeing his cheeks and gardens
فقلتُso I said ياO مُمْرِضِيyou who sicken me بوجهٍwith a face
فقلتُ يا مُمْرِضِي بوجهٍ

أَظنُّ دائي سَرى إِليهِ

I said: "Oh healer of my soul
to which, I think, my illness has spread!
I think my sickness has spread to you"
