جَنىhe did wrong وتَجَنَّىand he made false accusations وَالفُؤادُand the heart يُطِيعُهُobeys him
جَنى وتَجَنَّى وَالفُؤادُ يُطِيعُهُ
فَلاso may ... not ذَاقَtaste مَنْone who يُجْنَىwrong is done عليهagainst him كماas يَجْنِيhe does wrong
فَلا ذَاقَ مَنْ يُجْنَى عليه كما يَجْنِي
He did wrong and laid false blame, yet the heart obeys him.
He reaps and enjoys the fruits, while his heart obeys him.
So may no one wronged taste such wrong as he inflicts.
So none truly knows the pain of being wronged as the one doing wrong.
فَإِنْfor if لَمnot يَكُنhe is عِنديto me كَعَينيlike my eye وَمَسمَعيand my hearing
فَإِنْ لَم يَكُن عِندي كَعَيني وَمَسمَعي
فَلاthen may ... not نَظَرتsee عَينيmy eye وَلاnor سَمِعَتhear أذُنيmy ear
فَلا نَظَرت عَيني وَلا سَمِعَت أذُني
For if he is not to me as my eye and my hearing,
For if he is not as dear to me as my eyes and ears,
then may my eye never see, nor my ear hear.
Then my eyes have not seen, nor my ears heard.
