وَعَلى المُلَيحَةِ مِن جَذيمَةَ فَتيَّةٌ

وَعَلى المُلَيحَةِ مِن جَذيمَةَ فَتيَّةٌ

يَتَمارَضونَ كَتَمارُضَ الأُسدِ

يَتَمارَضونَ كَتَمارُضَ الأُسدِ

And at al-Mulayhah are young men of Jadhimah,

With champions from Jadhimah fair maidens are blessed

They feign sickness as lions do.

Who feign illness as lions feign rest

ظَفِرونَ يَنصُرُهُم عَلى أَعدائِهِم

ظَفِرونَ يَنصُرُهُم عَلى أَعدائِهِم

عِظمُ الحُلومِ وَصولَةُ الحَدِّ

عِظمُ الحُلومِ وَصولَةُ الحَدِّ

Victorious, they are aided against their enemies by

With victory they are graced against every foe

Their great wisdom and the sword-edge’s onslaught.

Mighty of bone and sharp of throw

إِنّا لَنُقَدِمُ حينَ لامُتَقَدِّمٌ

إِنّا لَنُقَدِمُ حينَ لامُتَقَدِّمٌ

وَنُبَيّعُ الأَموالَ بِالحَمدِ

وَنُبَيّعُ الأَموالَ بِالحَمدِ

We surely advance when no one advances,

We lead when none take the lead

And barter wealth for praise.

Selling our wealth for our people's need

وَتَرى المُلوكَ الغُرَّ حَولَ بُيوتِنا

وَتَرى المُلوكَ الغُرَّ حَولَ بُيوتِنا

يَمشونَ في الحَلَقاتِ وَالقِدِّ

يَمشونَ في الحَلَقاتِ وَالقِدِّ

And you see illustrious kings around our homes,

You'll see humbled kings outside our door

Walking in fetters and leather bonds.

Walking in chains, heads bowed low

بَيتٌ بَناهُ الحَارِثانِ لَنا

بَيتٌ بَناهُ الحَارِثانِ لَنا

إِذا أَنتَ لاتُجدي وَلاتُمدي

إِذا أَنتَ لاتُجدي وَلاتُمدي

A house the two Hariths built for us,

A home the Harith built for us here

When you offer neither benefit nor help.

When you cannot stretch nor draw near
