إِن لَم تَفُز يَوماً بقرب مَزارِه

إِن لَم تَفُز يَوماً بقرب مَزارِه

فاِقنع بما شاهدتَ من آثارِهِ

فاِقنع بما شاهدتَ من آثارِهِ

If you never attain nearness to his shrine,

If you do not one day win so near his tomb,

Then be content with what you have seen of his traces.

Be satisfied with what relics of him you have seen.

واِكحل جُفونَك من مواطئِ نعله

واِكحل جُفونَك من مواطئِ نعله

واِسفح دموعَك في رسوم ديارِهِ

واِسفح دموعَك في رسوم ديارِهِ

And line your eyelids with kohl from the places his sandal has trodden,

Use his sandal's dust to darken your eyes,

And shed your tears amid the remnants of his dwellings.

And your tears to wash the drawings of his home.
