وَشاعرٍ قَريضُه

مِن كُلِّ حُسنٍ مُعدِمُ

مِن كُلِّ حُسنٍ مُعدِمُ

And many a poet whose verse

A poet whose poetry

Is bereft of all beauty

Destroys every beauty

لَم يَلتَزِم شَيئاً سِوى

لَم يَلتَزِم شَيئاً سِوى

لزوم ما لا يَلزَمُ

لزوم ما لا يَلزَمُ

Has bound himself to nothing save

Commits to naught

Adherence to what is not required.

But what need not be
