كالزَهر يُبدي ابتهاجاً في خمائِلهِ
They reproached me for my youthful passion, while gray hair smiled,
Blame not my gray hair, though it smiles
like blossoms displaying joy amid their thickets.
Like flowers blooming in their beds.

أواخُر اليوم أحلى من أوائله
So I said, while passion folded me up and unfolded me:

A day's end is sweeter than its start.

فكيف أغفُل عنه في أصائله
I never forsook pleasure at any of its hours;
I never shunned the joy of life
so how could I neglect it in its late-afternoon hours?
So how could I forsake it now?
