الحمدُ لِلَّه على ساعةٍ

الحمدُ لِلَّه على ساعةٍ

عانيتُ فيها البَدرَ في سَعدهِ

عانيتُ فيها البَدرَ في سَعدهِ

Praise be to God for an hour

Praise be to Allah for an hour

in which I endured the full moon in his good fortune,

In which I suffered the full moon in its glory

مُباركَ الطالعة مَيمونَها

مُباركَ الطالعة مَيمونَها

تقرأ أي النُضج في خدِّه

تقرأ أي النُضج في خدِّه

blessed in his rising, auspicious in it;

Blessed is its auspicious rising

you read the signs of ripeness upon his cheek.

Reading the ripeness in its cheek

قَدَّمني من أُفقه بعدما

قَدَّمني من أُفقه بعدما

قاسيتُ ما قاسيتُ في بُعدِه

قاسيتُ ما قاسيتُ في بُعدِه

He brought me forward from his horizon, after

He brought me close after

I had suffered what I suffered in separation from him.

I endured what I endured in distance from him

لم يَجهل الحُبَّ ولا عابَه

لم يَجهل الحُبَّ ولا عابَه

فجاد بِالوَصل على عَبده

فجاد بِالوَصل على عَبده

He was not ignorant of love, nor did he fault it,

Love did not fail to know it or find fault

so he generously bestowed union upon his slave.

So it flowed with connection upon its servant

وعاهدت أجفانُه صُحبتي

وعاهدت أجفانُه صُحبتي

وَكلُّنا باقٍ على عَهده

وَكلُّنا باقٍ على عَهده

And his eyelids pledged to keep me company,

And its eyelids promised my company

and each of us remains true to his pledge.

And all of us remain true to its promise

أسرُّ أياميَ يومٌ أُرى

أسرُّ أياميَ يومٌ أُرى

مُرتَقِباً فيه إلى وَعده

مُرتَقِباً فيه إلى وَعده

The happiest of my days is a day when I am seen

The secret of my days is a day in which

looking expectantly, on that day, toward his promise.

I await in it for its promise
