أيا قمرا سما بعلا وفخر

O moon that has soared in eminence and glory,

And gained reverence and exalted rank;

ويا برّا بنا أضحى وبحرا

فدتك النفس من بر وبحر

فدتك النفس من بر وبحر

And O you who have become our benefactor and an ocean,

May every soul from land and sea be your ransom.

تهن بغصن بان قد تثنى

تهن بغصن بان قد تثنى

وشمس ضحى قد اقترنت ببدر

وشمس ضحى قد اقترنت ببدر

Rejoice in a bān-tree bough that sways gracefully,

And a morning sun that has joined a full moon.

فبيت علاك دل على اجتماع

فبيت علاك دل على اجتماع

وشكلك فيه قد وافى ببشر

وشكلك فيه قد وافى ببشر

For the house of your eminence has indicated a union,

And your figure within it has appeared with glad tidings.

وسعدك هل عاشره وهذا

وسعدك هل عاشره وهذا

لعمري بيت افراح ونصر

لعمري بيت افراح ونصر

And your fortune's tenth house has dawned—and this,

By my life, is a house of joys and victory.

ولا تجنح إلى قول الاعادي

ولا تجنح إلى قول الاعادي

ودع زيدا ولا تعني بعمرو

ودع زيدا ولا تعني بعمرو

And do not incline toward the speech of enemies,

And leave Zayd alone, and do not concern yourself with Amr.

فدم واسلم وعش عمرا طويلاً

فدم واسلم وعش عمرا طويلاً

بدى الايام في نهى وامر

بدى الايام في نهى وامر

So endure, stay safe, and live a long life,

[Throughout] the days, forbidding and commanding,

قرير العين ما مالت غصون

قرير العين ما مالت غصون

وحرّك عودها الحان قمري

وحرّك عودها الحان قمري

With eyes at peace, as long as branches bend,

And a turtledove's melodies set their wood astir.
