No one in the dwellings answers—by the Prophet, [bāṭī: unclear].
There is no answering call in the dwellings, though the Prophet's call still echoes,
Only the echo has utterly folded me away, after my name.
Save for the echo that has folded me into forgetfulness after my name.

How often I cried in the quarter, 'Asma, where is she?' [bāḥī: unclear].
How often did I call out names in the dwellings - where are their voices?
The quarter answered me ... the sky ... [al-nahā: unclear] ... 'O quarter!'
The dwellings called back: Those names, O living one, are no more.
