Sol 6.1

  1. ومذ تاه الدليل وقد ظللنا

    بليل ليس يهدى سالكوه

    And when the guide lost his way, while we lingered

    in a night whose travelers could find no guidance,

  2. فأشرق وجه من أهوى ونادى

    انا ابن جلا ألا لا تنكروه

    then the face of the one I love shone and called out:

    “I am Ibn Jala!” Take heed: do not fail to recognize him.

  3. ووجه البدر وافانا سريعا

    وقال وقد حكاه انا اخوه

    And the full moon’s face came swiftly to us

    and, resembling him, said, “I am his brother.”

  4. فقلت لصاحبي انعم صباحا

    لعمرك قد تعارفت الوجوه

    So I said to my companion, “Good morning!

    By your life, the faces have recognized one another!”
