ينيف به على كل الصحاب

For Nasr, my heart holds an overflowing love,

Victory in my heart excessive love

which raises him above all my companions.

Where I yearn for it over all friends

أتيناه فبخرنا بخورا

We visited him, and he fumigated us with incense

We came to it, so we burned incense

from palm fronds smoking as they burned.

Of palm leaves smoked with fire

فقمت مبادرا وحسبت نصرا

يريد بذاك طردى أو ذهابى

So I rose at once, thinking Nasr

So I got up taking initiative and thought it was a victory

meant by that to drive me out or make me leave.

He wanted with that to expel or banish me

فقال متى أراك أبا حسين

فقال متى أراك أبا حسين

فقلت له اذا اتسخت ثيابى

فقلت له اذا اتسخت ثيابى

Then he said, “When shall I see you, Abu Husayn?”

So he said when do I see you, oh Abu Hussein

So I said to him, “When my clothes get dirty.”

So I said to him, when my clothes get dirty
