عِنديI have فديتكَmay I be your ransom راءاتٌrāʾs (the Arabic letter r) ثمانيةٌeight
عِندي فديتكَ راءاتٌ ثمانيةٌ
ألقىI face بهاwith them الحَرَّthe heat إنif وافَىit arrives وإنand if بَرَداit cools
ألقى بها الحَرَّ إن وافَى وإن بَرَدا
I have, may I be your ransom, eight rāʾs:
With them I face the heat, whether it comes or subsides.
رَفٌّan awning ورَوحand a breeze ورَيحانٌand sweet basil وريقُand the saliva of رشاًa young gazelle
رَفٌّ ورَوح ورَيحانٌ وريقُ رشاً
ورفرفand cushions ورياضٌand gardens ناعمsoft ورِداand a cloak
ورفرف ورياضٌ ناعم ورِدا
An awning, a breeze, sweet basil, and a young gazelle’s saliva;
And cushions, gardens, and a soft cloak.
