أمor آسَةٌa myrtle تَخْتالُsways proudly فيamid وَرْدِroses
أم آسَةٌ تَخْتالُ في وَرْدِ
Is that your figure in your rose-colored attire,
Your stature in your pink dress -
Or a myrtle swaying proudly amid roses?
Is it a willow swaying amidst roses?
ووَجْهُكَand your face الأسْعَدُmost auspicious منfrom فَوْقِهabove it
ووَجْهُكَ الأسْعَدُ من فَوْقِه
أمor قَمَرٌa moon قدalready لاحَshone forth بالسَّعدِwith good fortune
أم قَمَرٌ قد لاحَ بالسَّعدِ
And is that your most auspicious face above it,
Your happiest face above it -
Or a moon that has shone forth auspiciously?
Is it a moon gleaming with good fortune?
ظَبْيٌa gazelle وأيْنَand where الظَّبيُthe gazelle منin comparison with تِيْهِهِhis proud bearing

وغُنْجهِand his coy charm والرِّدفِand the buttocks والقَدِّand the figure
وغُنْجهِ والرِّدفِ والقَدِّ
A gazelle—but how could a gazelle match his proud bearing,
A gazelle - and where is the gazelle from its loss,
His coy charm, his haunches, and his figure?
And coquetry, and swaying gait, and stature?

He sways proudly as he appears in a garment
It struts as it hides in a dress
As though it were woven from roses.
As if it were woven from roses.

And its hue is not dye, but rather
Yet there is no dye in it, but rather
A reflection of the radiance of that cheek.
The reflection of the radiance of that cheek.
