وملتَ عني الى الواشي فلا عجب

And you turned away from me toward the slanderer—no wonder;

And you have turned away from me to the slanderer, no wonder

For the bough has always been disposed by nature to sway.

For the branch continues bent in its leaning

يا واحد الحسن عُدني زورةً حلماً

يا واحد الحسن عُدني زورةً حلماً

وها يدي أن نومي قد جفا مقلي

وها يدي أن نومي قد جفا مقلي

O you peerless in beauty, visit me once in a dream.

O unique in beauty, call me back, a dream of resolve

And here is my hand in pledge: my sleep has forsaken my eyes.

يا جيرة بأعالي الخيف من إضم

O neighbors in the upper reaches of al-Khayf in Idam,

O neighbor in the lofty encampments, from yearning

With your coldness, you have dashed my hope in love.

You have disappointed my hopes in love, by your aloofness

وملتم بجميل الصبر عن دنف

وملتم بجميل الصبر عن دنف

وما عسى ينفع الباكي على طلل

وما عسى ينفع الباكي على طلل

And you have turned fair patience away from a lovesick man;

And you have turned with beautiful patience from sympathy

And what could help one weeping over a ruined dwelling?
