بلغت المنى وحللت الحرَم

بلغت المنى وحللت الحرَم

فعاد شبابك بعد الهرَم

فعاد شبابك بعد الهرَم

You have attained your wishes and alighted in the Sacred Precinct.

I have attained my goal and performed the sacred rites,

So your youth has returned after old age.

So your youth has returned after old age.

فأهلاً بمكةً اهلاً بها

فأهلاً بمكةً اهلاً بها

وشكراً لمن شكرُه يلتزم

وشكراً لمن شكرُه يلتزم

So hail to Mecca—hail to her,

Welcome, o Mecca, a thousand welcomes to you,

and thanks to him whom we are bound to thank:

And thanks to the one whose gratitude is binding.

نبيّ شفاعته عصمة

نبيّ شفاعته عصمة

فيوم التّنادى به يعتصم

فيوم التّنادى به يعتصم

a Prophet whose intercession is a safeguard;

The Prophet whose intercession is protection,

so on the Day of Calling, refuge is sought in him.

On the day of mutual calls, in him we seek refuge.

عسى أن تُجاب لنا دعوة

عسى أن تُجاب لنا دعوة

لديه فنكفى بها ما أهم

لديه فنكفى بها ما أهم

May a prayer of ours be answered

May our prayer be answered for us,

in his presence, so that through it we may be spared what has troubled us.

With it we will suffice for whatever worries us.

ويرعى لزوّاره في غدٍ

ويرعى لزوّاره في غدٍ

ذماماً فما زال يرعى الذَمم

ذماماً فما زال يرعى الذَمم

And may he honor, for his visitors on the morrow,

And he watches over his visitors tomorrow,

a bond of protection, for he has always honored such bonds.

He still protects those under his responsibility.

عليه السلام وطوبى لمن

عليه السلام وطوبى لمن

المَّ بتربته فاستلم

المَّ بتربته فاستلم

Peace be upon him, and blessed is whoever

Peace be upon him, and blessed is he who

has visited his tomb and touched it reverently.

Touched his grave’s soil and received it.

أخي كم نتابع أهواءنا

أخي كم نتابع أهواءنا

ونخبِط عشواءها في الظُّلم

ونخبِط عشواءها في الظُّلم

My brother, how often we follow our passions

My brother, how much we follow our whims,

and blunder like their blind she-camel in the darkness.

And grope blindly in the darkness.

رويدك جرت فعج واقتصد

رويدك جرت فعج واقتصد

أمامك نهجُ الطريق الأعم

أمامك نهجُ الطريق الأعم

Slow down: you have strayed; turn back and take a moderate course.

Slow down, you have strayed, be moderate

Before you lies the clear course of the road open to all.

The path ahead of you is the clearest path.

وتُب قبل عضِّ بنانِ الأسى

وتُب قبل عضِّ بنانِ الأسى

ومن قبل قرعك سنّ الندم

ومن قبل قرعك سنّ الندم

And repent before you bite the fingertips of grief,

Repent before the teeth of sorrow bite you

and before you gnash the tooth of remorse.

And before the knock of regret makes you old.

وقل ربّ هب رحمةً في غد

وقل ربّ هب رحمةً في غد

لعبدِ بسيما العُصاة اتسم

لعبدِ بسيما العُصاة اتسم

And say: Lord, grant mercy on the morrow

And say “My Lord grant me mercy tomorrow

to a servant marked with the mark of the disobedient,

For a servant, especially the disobedient ones be kind.”

جرى في ميادين عصيانه

جرى في ميادين عصيانه

مسيئاً ودان بكفر النّعم

مسيئاً ودان بكفر النّعم

who ran through the arenas of his disobedience,

He sinned in the battlefields of disobedience,

doing wrong, and made ingratitude for blessings his creed.

Doing wrong and denied the blessings.

فيا ربَّ صفحك عما جنى

فيا ربَّ صفحك عما جنى

ويارب عفوك عنا اجترم

ويارب عفوك عنا اجترم

So, O Lord, grant Your pardon for what he has done,

So my Lord overlook what he has harvested

and, O Lord, grant us Your forgiveness—he has sinned.

And my Lord pardon us for what we have sown.
