طالَ شَوقي الى بقاعٍ ثَلاث

طالَ شَوقي الى بقاعٍ ثَلاث

لا تشدّ الرِّحالُ الا اليها

لا تشدّ الرِّحالُ الا اليها

I have long yearned for three places,

My longing has grown for three places

For which alone the saddles are fastened.

To which travels are made only for their sake

إنَّ للنفسِ في سَماء الأماني

إنَّ للنفسِ في سَماء الأماني

طَائراً لا يَحوم الا عليها

طَائراً لا يَحوم الا عليها

Indeed, in the sky of wishes, the soul has

Verily the soul has in the sky of wishes

A bird that circles only above them.

A bird that hovers only over them

قُصَّ منه الجَناحُ فهو مَهيضٌ

قُصَّ منه الجَناحُ فهو مَهيضٌ

كلَّ يَومٍ يَرجو الوقوع لديها

كلَّ يَومٍ يَرجو الوقوع لديها

Its wing has been clipped, and it is broken-winged;

Whose wings are clipped, so it is grounded

Each day it hopes to alight there.

Hoping every day to alight at them
