للصَّباfor the east breeze منّةٌa favor علىupon الرّوضthe garden هادتshe presented
للصَّبا منّةٌ على الرّوض هادت
هُit بطيبِwith the fragrance of الحبيبِthe beloved أيwhat a ذمامِbond of obligation
هُ بطيبِ الحبيبِ أي ذمامِ
The east breeze has done the garden a favor, presenting
it with the beloved’s fragrance—what a bond!
وَجرتand she coursed بَينَهُthrough its midst رواحاًat evening ليَرتاso that it may rest (continued)
وَجرت بَينَهُ رواحاً ليَرتا
حَ(completes 'rest') وَيبقىand it remains علىin رضّىcontentment والتئامِand harmony
حَ وَيبقى على رضّى والتئامِ
And she coursed through it at evening, so it might find
rest and remain in contentment and harmony,
كالشّفيقِlike a caring friend الذيwho يُؤلّفُbrings together ماwhat بَيbetween (continued)
كالشّفيقِ الذي يُؤلّفُ ما بَي
نَ(completes 'between') حبيبينِtwo lovers بعدafter قَطعِbreaking off الكلامِspeech
نَ حبيبينِ بعد قَطعِ الكلامِ
like a caring friend who restores the bond
between two lovers after speech has broken off.
