ما للمُعيلِ وللمَعَالي إنما
يَسعَىstrives إليهنَّtoward them الوحيدthe lone man الفاردُthe solitary one
يَسعَى إليهنَّ الوحيد الفاردُ
What has a man with dependents to do with lofty aims? Only
the lone, solitary man strives toward them.
فالشمسُfor the sun تَجتَابtraverses السَّماءَthe sky وحيدةًalone
فالشمسُ تَجتَاب السَّماءَ وحيدةً
وابوand the father of بناتِthe daughters of النعشِthe Bier فيهاin it راكدُmotionless
وابو بناتِ النعشِ فيها راكدُ
For the sun traverses the sky alone,
while the father of the Daughters of the Bier remains motionless in it.
