إن الثلاثين التي قد مَضَت

إن الثلاثين التي قد مَضَت

فيها لذي مُعتَبرٍ خُبرُ

فيها لذي مُعتَبرٍ خُبرُ

Indeed, the thirty years that have passed

Those thirty years that have passed

Hold knowledge for one who reflects.

In them is news for one who takes heed

هَبنيَ قد عَمَّرت أَمثالها

هَبنيَ قد عَمَّرت أَمثالها

أَلَيسَ عُقبَاها هو القبرُ

أَلَيسَ عُقبَاها هو القبرُ

Suppose I lived several times as long—

It has made me live the likes of them

Is not their end the grave?

Is not its sequel the grave?

أستغفرُ الله فكم مُذنبٍ

أستغفرُ الله فكم مُذنبٍ

يُرجَى له من ربِّه الغَفرُ

يُرجَى له من ربِّه الغَفرُ

I seek God's forgiveness: for many a sinner

I ask God's forgiveness, for how many sinners

There is hope of forgiveness from his Lord.

Can hope from their Lord forgiveness
