فانتبه أن بعض من كان بالأم

س جليساً لنا يعاني كبيرا

So take heed: some who were yesterday

Yet take heed: someone who was, only yesterday,

Companions of ours engage in grave wrongdoing.

Our bosom friend, suffer greatly.

A companion sitting in our company, is suffering greatly.

ليس كل الركوع فاعلم صلاةً

Not every bowing is prayer—so know this;

Know well that not every bowing is a prayer,

No, nor is everyone with eyes discerning.

No, nor is everyone with a beard, seeing.

Nor is everyone who has eyes truly perceptive.
