When she steps with her supple sway, she is like
As if, when she walks in her languor,
As though, when stepping with her supple grace,
A narcissus stem swaying in the garden.
She is a narcissus wand in the garden.
She were a narcissus bough swaying gently in the meadow;
كأنماas though خلدهاher mind فيin قلبthe heart عاشقهاof her lover
ففيهfor within it منfrom وقعهاher footfalls خطرpassing thoughts ووسواسand whispers
It is as though her mind were in her lover's heart,
As if her image in her lover's heart
As if she dwells forever in the heart of her lover,
For her footfalls stir within it passing thoughts and whispers.
Stirs perilous passion and restless care.
Where her footsteps stir sweet peril and whispered longings;
كأنماas though مشيهاher walking مشيthe walking الحمامةof the dove لاno
كدstrain يعابis faulted ولاnor بطءslowness بهin it باسfault
Her walk is like the walk of a dove, with no
As if her gait is the gait of a dove,
As if her gait were the soft tread of a dove,
Strain to be faulted, nor slowness to find fault with.
Beyond reproach, not too fast, not too slow.
Neither marred by hurried strain nor faulted for delay.
