إيهاً لصائلِ حَلْيها ولِثامها
هذَاthis one يُعَانقهاembraces her وذاكَand that one يُقَبِّلُkisses
هذَا يُعَانقها وذاكَ يُقَبِّلُ
Enough of the onslaught of her jewelry and veil!
This one embraces her, and that one kisses her.
ولقدand indeed يُجِيشُsets boiling الشَّوْقُlonging راكدstagnant عَبْرَتيmy tears
ولقد يُجِيشُ الشَّوْقُ راكد عَبْرَتي
فكأنَّهso, as though it were لَهَبٌa flame وجَفْنيand my eyelid مِرْجَلُa cauldron
فكأنَّه لَهَبٌ وجَفْني مِرْجَلُ
And longing indeed sets my still tears boiling,
So it is like a flame, and my eyelid a cauldron.
نَجْدِيَّةٌa woman of Najd وَافَاكcame to you منfrom لحظاتهاher glances
نَجْدِيَّةٌ وَافَاك من لحظاتها
نظرٌa gaze بسفحِwith shedding دمblood of القلوبِthe hearts موكَّلٌcharged
نظرٌ بسفحِ دم القلوبِ موكَّلٌ
A woman of Najd—from her glances there came to you
A gaze charged with shedding the blood of hearts.
