The steed was blameless in its gallop the day it stumbled,

Bearing, in Hasan, a sea, a mountain, a lion,

And a full moon, in whose hands are clouds of bounty,

All ten pouring forth, streaming with gifts,

And a king's soul, mighty in worth, outweighing

The souls of mankind, of Qays and of Yemen.

And how could a horse carry all of this,

Even were it the firm-set bulk of Hadan's twin heights?

Perhaps it was prostrating itself the day it stumbled

Before him, when the lord of the age mounted it.

O you who bestow every noble gift from your bounty,

And set lean stallions racing along your course,

Your spear, as you wield it, is like a pen,

As you joust with a long, slender Yazani lance.

You lead your army to battle, resolute,

And your might and God's aid are yoked together.

And with one hand you snatch the spear from the battlefield,

While the steed runs like a lightning flash over rugged ground.

And its two ends meet if you shake them,

As though its two ends were those of a branch.

When you came through unharmed, we began, in our supplication,

To pray to God for you, in secret and in public.

    فليس يشكونَ من سُقْمٍ على بدنِ

    And you, mankind's head, have remained safe for them;

So they complain of no sickness in the body.
