Perhaps breezes, passing over the traces of those landmarks,
Perhaps the east wind knows the traces of the landmarks,
may cool my fever—the fever of a lover distraught.
and may cool the heat of a lovesick wanderer's yearning.

Nights when longing and its sorrows tormented me,
Nights when the torment of passion kept me restless,
while I sipped sweetness from mouths of fresh, sweet saliva.
and sipping dusky lips from one sweet of mouth enthralled me.

summoning me among the roses of tender cheeks.
my dewy refuge was in the roses of tender cheeks.

And you recalled to me the days of youth, as though
my tears streamed for it as a dreamer’s do at a phantom.
the eye were telling of a dreamer's vision from those days.
