صِحّاتُنَا بالزَّمانِ أمْرَاضُ

صِحّاتُنَا بالزَّمانِ أمْرَاضُ

وَدَهْرُنا مُبْرِمٌ وَنَقّاضُ

وَدَهْرُنا مُبْرِمٌ وَنَقّاضُ

Our health turns to illness with time.

And our time binds firmly and unravels.

وَللّيالي في صَرْفِها عِبَرٌ

وَللّيالي في صَرْفِها عِبَرٌ

فهْيَ سهامٌ ونحن أغْراضُ

فهْيَ سهامٌ ونحن أغْراضُ

And the nights hold lessons in their vicissitudes:

For they are arrows, and we are targets.
