سَكَنَ القلبَ هوى ذي صَلَفٍ

سَكَنَ القلبَ هوى ذي صَلَفٍ

زادَهُ فيه سكوناً حَرَكُهْ

زادَهُ فيه سكوناً حَرَكُهْ

Love for a haughty one settled in the heart;

The heart was calmed by the love of an unyielding one

Its motion increased its stillness within;

Its stillness augmented by its stirring

فهو كالمركزِ يَبْقى ثابتاً

فهو كالمركزِ يَبْقى ثابتاً

كلّما دارَ عَلَيْه فَلَكُهْ

كلّما دارَ عَلَيْه فَلَكُهْ

So, like the center, it remains fixed

So it is as the axis which remains fixed

Whenever its sphere revolves around it.
