فيin قِمَمِthe summits العَلياءِglory عنfrom حِرْصِهِhis eagerness
And one who renounces wealth and does not amass it,
And one indifferent to wealth does not relent
Within his heart, loftiness keeps him aloof from greed.
In his ardent pursuit of the summits of glory.
لَيسَتْdoes not تَرىsee عَيناهُhis two eyes شِبْهاًa likeness لهto him
مُبَرّأًfree فيin الفضْلِexcellence منof نقصهِhis shortcomings
His eyes behold no one like him,
His eyes see no equal to himself
Purged, in excellence, of every defect.
Whose excellence is free of flaws.
كَأَنَّمَاas though العالمُthe world مرآتُهُhis mirror
فماso … not يرىhe sees فيهاin it سِوَىother than شَخْصِهِhis own person
It is as though the whole world were his mirror,
As though the world were his mirror,
And in it he sees nothing but his own image.
So he sees in it nothing but himself.
