O you whose hands pour forth goodness

May you long be clothed in abundant blessing.

I'm weary of wearing your overabundant blessings

قد هشمت رأسي بأحجارها

ألفاظك الهاشمة الدامغة

My head has indeed been smashed with their stones—

Your forceful, decisive words have shattered my head

By your crushing, brain-shattering words.

Your stones have crushed my skull

فيا أبا قابوس في ملكه

فيا أبا قابوس في ملكه

رفقاً أبيت اللعن بالنابغه

رفقاً أبيت اللعن بالنابغه

So, O Abu Qabus in his kingdom,

So Abu Qabus, be gentle in your kingdom

Be gentle with al-Nabigha—may you shun all cause for curses.

I beg you, do not curse the eminent poet
