سيدي إن أقمت بعدك بالص
عدcompletion of al-Ṣaʿd فقلبيthen my heart عليwith me غيرnot مقيمِremaining
عد فقلبي علي غير مقيمِ
My lord, if I remain after you at al-Ṣaʿd,
my heart does not remain with me.
غيرyet أنيthat I أقولsay بالرغمdespite منيmyself
غير أني أقول بالرغم مني
فامليso my hope أكفI ward off بأسthe force of هموميmy worries
فاملي أكف بأس همومي
Yet I say, despite myself,
my hope is to ward off the force of my worries.
منwhoever يكنmay be يكرهhating الفراقparting فإنيthen indeed I
من يكن يكره الفراق فإني
أشتهيهI desire it لوقفةِfor the moment of standing التسليمfarewell greeting
أشتهيه لوقفةِ التسليم
Whoever may hate parting, I
desire it for the moment of farewell.
