فديتI would give my life for إنساناًa person علىdespite هجرهhis estrangement
فديت إنساناً على هجره

ووصله تحسدني الناسُ
I would give my life for a man, despite his estrangement;
I ransom a man for his estrangement,
and people envy me his affection.
And for his affection people envy me,

When the rose spread over his cheek,
When the rose embraced his cheek,
and myrtle crept along the side of his face,
And the myrtle crept into his temple.

I mixed my cup with the harvest of his saliva—
I mixed my cup from the wine of his saliva,
with the like of what the cup carried round.
Just as the cup went round with it.
