  1. ملكٌ لو لم يكن من ملكه

    غير دارٍ وشحت بالنعمِ

    A king—had his realm contained nothing

    but a dwelling adorned with blessings,

  2. لو رمى شداد فيها طرفهُ

    زهدته بعدها في إرمِ

    had Shaddad cast his gaze upon it,

    it would thereafter have made him care no more for Iram.
