بحمد الله إلا كل خير

بحمد الله إلا كل خير

A girl—from her we have never known

A young woman of whom we have never known

—praise be to God—aught save goodness.

—praise be to God—anything but goodness.

فما تهوى سوى أيار شهرا

فما تهوى سوى أيار شهرا

وليس إمامها غير الزبير

وليس إمامها غير الزبير

She loves no month save May,

So she loves no month but May,

and none but al-Zubayr is her imam.

And her imam is none other than al-Zubayr.
