In noble deeds, O Abu al-Abbas, you have

Traces of kindness that have left no distress.

And the most wholesome food is what tastes sweet and what

Has become a lasting cure for people.

And you have much of it, so send

What is pleasing in color and kind.

And leave its reverse for an innocent maiden

Who has grown accustomed to you after long resistance.

Her father is associated with the one whom you resemble

In qualities, without doubt or ambiguity.

So you have always known sweetness in its various forms,

In both states: eating and marriage.

This—and what prompts my appeal to you—is what

Your exalted self has chosen of kindness and friendly warmth.
