1. هنيئاً هنيئاً إمامَ الهُدَى

    وغَوْث الوجودِ وغيث النّدَى

    Congratulations, congratulations, imam of guidance,

    and succor of existence, and rain of bounty!

  2. وبُشْرَى بوافدةٍ قد أتَتْ

    لها شرَفٌ حازَ أقصَى المَدَى

    And glad tidings of a newcomer who has arrived,

    hers is honor that has reached the utmost bounds.

  3. على إثْر مَن جَدّ في سَيْرِهِ

    وحادِي المَنايا بِهِ قدْ حَدا

    In the wake of one who pressed on in his journey,

    and death's camel-driver has sung him onward.

  4. ولو كان يُفْدَى لكانَتْ لهُ

    نُفوسُ البَرايا جميعاً فِدا

    And had he been redeemable, there would have been for him

    the souls of all creation, together, as ransom.

  5. لقد طَلعَتْ هذه عنْدَما

    رأتْ سَيْفَهُ في الثّرَى أُغْمِدا

    Indeed, this one rose when

    she saw his sword sheathed in the earth.

  6. وكان سَحاباً إذا يُرْتَجَى

    وكان شِهاباً بهِ يُهْتَدَى

    And he was a rain cloud whenever hope was placed in him,

    and he was a blazing star by which one found guidance.

  7. فإنْ غابَ بَدْرُ الدّجَى مشْرقاً

    فشمْسُ الضُحى نُورُها قد بَدا

    So if the radiant full moon of night has set,

    then the midmorning sun's light has now appeared.

  8. أنارَتْ ومنْ شأنِها أنّها

    متى طلَعَتْ لمْ تَدعْ فرْقَدا

    She has shone, and it is her nature that

    whenever she rises, she leaves no Farqad star visible.

  9. فأيْمِنْ وأسْعِدْ بها طَلْعَةً

    وأعْظِمْ وأكْرِمْ بهِ مَوْلِدا

    How auspicious and fortunate is her rising!

    And how great and noble a birth it is!

  10. ويا ناصِراً جاءَ يَطْوي الفَلا

    يُجدُّ السُّرى طالباً للجَدا

    And O champion, who has come traversing the wastes,

    pressing on by night, seeking bounty,

  11. بمثْوَى إمامِ الهُدَى يوسُفٍ

    أنِخْ رَكْبَكَ المُتْهمَ المُنْجِدا

    at the abode of Yusuf, imam of guidance,

    make your caravan that crosses Tihama and Najd kneel.

  12. ويمِّمْ على ظَمإٍ بابَهُ

    تَجِدْ عندهُ الظِّلَّ والمَوْرِدا

    And turn toward his gate in your thirst;

    you will find shade and a watering place with him.

  13. فما ذَلَّ مَنْ بعُلاهُ اعْتَلى

    ولا ضَلَّ منْ بهُداهُ اهْتدَى

    For none is abased who rises through his eminence,

    nor goes astray whoever follows his guidance.

  14. أما ناصِرُ الدّينَ مَنْ لمْ يزَلْ

    يُنيلُ النّدى ويُجيبُ النِّدا

    Is not Nasir al-Din the one who never ceases

    to bestow bounty and answer the call?

  15. أما ناصرُ الدّين منْ كَفُّهُ

    حَياةُ العُفاةِ وحَتْفُ العِدَى

    Is not Nasir al-Din the one whose hand is

    life to supplicants and death to foes—

  16. من القومِ قامُوا بنَصْرِ الرسولِ

    قِياماً ولِيَّ العِدَى أقْعَدَا

    one of the people who rose to aid the Messenger,

    with a stand that laid the enemies' champion low?

  17. فكمْ وافدٍ إذْ أتى حيَّهُم

    على المُعْتَدينَ بهِمْ أُيِّدا

    How many a visitor, when he came to their encampment,

    was strengthened by them against aggressors!

  18. ويوسُفُ منْ بعدِهمْ قد أتَى

    فَجادَ وعَهْدَهُمُ جَدّدا

    And Yusuf came after them,

    so he gave generously and renewed their covenant.

  19. فكمْ خَلَلٍ سَدَّهُ في الثُّغورِ

    وسهْمٍ لحرْبِ العِدَى سَدّدا

    How many a breach he has closed in the frontier defenses,

    and how many an arrow he has aimed for war against foes!

  20. وكمْ منْ حِمىً قد حَماهُ وكمْ

    جِهادٍ به نفْسَهُ أجْهَدا

    And how many a protected land he has guarded, and how many

    a jihad in which he has exerted himself!

  21. وكمْ من بِناءٍ بتَشْييدِه

    أبانَ مَعالِمَ دينِ الهُدَى

    And through how many a building he has raised

    he has revealed the landmarks of the faith of guidance!

  22. وأنت الذي تُرْتَجى مُنْعِماً

    يُجيزُ إذا ما الزّمانُ اعتَدَى

    And you are the one looked to as a benefactor,

    who grants rewards whenever time attacks.

  23. فما ذلّلَ الدّهْرُ إلاّ أعزَّ

    ولا ضلّلَ الغَيُّ إلا هَدَى

    For whoever time has humbled, he has exalted,

    and whoever error has misled, he has guided.

  24. سيُعْطي وليُّ العِدَى راغِماً

    زماماً لما شِئتَ أو مِقْوَدا

    The enemies' champion shall yield, humbled,

    a rein to your will, or a leading rope.

  25. متَى قصدَتهُ الجيادُ التي

    تُضمّرها نالتِ المَقْصَدا

    Whenever he is approached by the steeds that

    you condition, they attain their goal.

  26. إذا ما أغارَت على خيْفِه

    أغارَ بها الخَوْفُ أو أنْجَدا

    Whenever they raid his mountainside,

    fear rides with them into lowlands or highlands.

  27. بذِكرِكَ تعْنُو وجوهٌ غدَتْ

    إلى ربّها رُكّعاً سُجَّدا

    At your mention, faces bow in submission, having turned

    to their Lord, bowing and prostrating.

  28. بحُبّكَ دانت قلوبُ الوَرى

    فها هِيَ جمْعٌ حَوَتْ مُفْرَدا

    In love of you, the hearts of humanity have submitted,

    so here they are, a multitude embracing a single one.

  29. ومدْحُكَ هامَتْ بتَرْدادِه

    فكلُّ لِسانٍ به قدْ شَدا

    And they are enraptured by repeating your praise,

    so every tongue has indeed sung it.

  30. فهُنّئْتَها كيفَ تبْغي العُلَى

    صنائِعَ أرْغَمَتِ الحُسَّدا

    So may you be congratulated on it! How you seek glory

    through benefactions that have humbled the envious!

  31. ولازِلتَ تُحْيي رُسومَ النّدَى

    كما شِئتَهُ ووُقِيتَ الرّدَى

    And may you ever revive the traces of bounty,

    as you wish it, and may you be shielded from death.

  32. تُشيّدُ لي معْلَماً للقَبولِ

    فيغْدو لِساني بهِ مُنْشِدا

    You raise for me a landmark of favor,

    so my tongue turns to chanting of it.

  33. سواكَ على الدّهْرِ إذْ جارَ لمْ

    نَجِدهُ مُعيناً ولا مُنجِدا

    Apart from you, against time when it grew unjust, we have not

    found a helper or a rescuer.

  34. لئن مَطَلَتْ بكَ أيّامُهُ

    فقَد أنجَزَتْ منكَ لي المَوْعِدا

    Though its days have indeed delayed you,

    they have indeed fulfilled your promise to me.

  35. ودُمْتَ تُجيبُ نِداءَ العُفاةِ

    بما تَرتجي من جَزيلِ النّدَى

    And may you ever answer the supplicants' call,

    with the abundant bounty you hope for.
