It is fitting that my eye's tears should fall,

And the young she-camels had sped away with those departing.

I turned toward them the gaze of an eye hot with grief,

And its pupil was sinking in a deep sea of tears,

In the morning, when between me and their figures stretched far

The broad desert wastes and the towering hills.

It has captivated you—but let it not master you, now that there has appeared

A gleam of gray hair, flashing at the hair's partings.
