1. يَبتَهج الناسُ بِأعيادهم

    من أجل ذَبحٍ أو لإِفطارِ

    People rejoice in their festivals,

    for the sake of slaughter or breaking the fast.

  2. وإنما عُظم سروري به

    لِلَثم من أهوى بلا عار

    Yet my great joy in it comes only

    from kissing the one I love without shame.

  3. أرقُبها حولاً إلى قابل

    لأنها غاية أوطاري

    I await them a whole year, until the year to come,

    for they are the ultimate object of my desires.
