It has no desire for anyone but you.
It has no desire in others but you

O masters whose love has schooled me,
O masters, their love has trained me
Though I had no experience in love.
And I had no experience in love before

With what can I get close to you

And companionship has long existed between us.
And our companionship which is from old times

But your desertion was not in the reckoning.
And your estrangement was not in the calculations

O my masters, am a dab of henna in your hand.
Am in your hands like henna

You are the breeze of companionship; if you hold back
You are the breeze of intimacy, if you refrain
From me awhile, you still have a gust to give.
From me for a while, you have my gift
