And a burst of horses’ neighing he hears

The neighing of the steeds that fills his ears

on the sand is more enchanting in melody than the ramal rhythm.

Is lovelier than pipes heard at evening from afar.

يا كوكباً يغرق العافون في دفع

O star, seekers of bounty drown in torrents

O star that sinks drunk sheikhs in sensual joy

from you, while enemies burn in flames.

While enemies are burned by thy hot rays!

Men fail to gain, strive hard as they may do,

by taking their time, even part of what you attained in haste.

A part of what thou graspest in hasty flight.
