Upon all the affection that once was between us,
Over all that was between us in affection
may oblivion fall for all time, morning and evening.
Time's pardon spreads, going and returning,

You make a scandal of what, but for you, would have stayed hidden from foes,
Exposing what but for you had not appeared
and claim, out of ignorance, that you are a sincere adviser.
To the foe, and claiming in your ignorance

Come to your senses, deluded one! You are not worthy
That you are my adviser. Awaken, o heedless one,
of someone like me, disgraced as you are by those scandals.
You are not worthy of me, with such disgraces upon you.
