وقولكand your words بالتفريعِabout branching أذهلنيmade me oblivious عنيto myself
Your affairs, my lord, have bewildered my innermost self.
My affairs, O my Master, have perplexed my secret
And your words about branching have made me forget myself.
And Your speech with elaboration has confused me
لأنيbecause I لاnot أدريknow بماذاwith what تجيبنيyou answer me
معwith العلمthe knowledge أنthat الأصلthe root فيماin what أتىcame منيfrom me
For I do not know with what you will answer me,

Despite the fact that the basis of what came from me

And by God, you do not wrong me; rather,
By Allah, You do no injustice to me; rather
The souls of humankind, of themselves, wrong themselves.
The souls of mankind injure themselves

So blame or submit, for things are as you see.
So whether I spoke or was silent, matters are as You see
And it comes not from intuition, nor from conjecture,
And it is not based on guesswork or supposition

But it is sound, verified knowledge,
Rather, it is true knowledge, realized
Which the spirits brought in the darkness of the overcast sky.
Brought by the spirits in the darkness of the prison
