من طلبَ الدينَ بالكلامِ

من طلبَ الدينَ بالكلامِ

زندقه الشرعُ والسلامُ

زندقه الشرعُ والسلامُ

Whoever seeks religion through speculative theology,

Whoever seeks religion through theology

the revealed Law brands him a heretic—and that is that.

Is an atheist, according to Islamic law and peace

فاعدل إلى الشرعِ لا تزده

فاعدل إلى الشرعِ لا تزده

فإنه كله حرام

فإنه كله حرام

So turn to the revealed Law; do not add to it,

So turn to Islamic law, do not increase it

for all of it is forbidden.

For all of it is forbidden

فإنَّ علمَ الكلامِ جهلٌ

فإنَّ علمَ الكلامِ جهلٌ

يرمي به الحالُ والمقامُ

يرمي به الحالُ والمقامُ

For the science of speculative theology is ignorance,

Surely the science of theology is ignorance

which the spiritual state and station cast aside.

Thrown by the state and status

ما الدينُ إلا ما قال ربي

ما الدينُ إلا ما قال ربي

أو قاله السيِّد الإمام

أو قاله السيِّد الإمام

Religion is nothing but what my Lord said,

Religion is none other than what my Lord said

or what the master, the Imam, said:

Or what the Master Imam said

رسوله المصطفى المرجّى

رسوله المصطفى المرجّى

عليه من ربِّه السَّلام

عليه من ربِّه السَّلام

His chosen Messenger, in whom hope is placed—

His Messenger, the Chosen One, hoped for

upon him be peace from his Lord.

Upon him be God's peace and blessings
