When you recite God's Book, you are thereby

A reciter, but not a reciter of God's speech.

Speech is too exalted to be recited, and has no place

In this station; so do not bring it to mind.

If it is where I am, then it may resemble Him

Through the accidents and states within my essence.

And it is sound, with no fallacy in it,

In the past, the time to come, and the present.

Thus it is called Time, which has no end.

It passes away, yet is not passing away, since it is the ruler.

Indeed, I am a noble messenger; I am not restrained

By love of the mission, for the ruler is among my envoys.

    فبابها مطلقٌ شرعاً عن أمثالي

    And I do not mean by it what sacred law has written;

For its gate is, by sacred law, unbound from the likes of me.

Speech obeys my right hand, as that hand directs it

In all prose, poems, and proverbs.
