إذا وصف الشرع المبين إلها

إذا وصف الشرع المبين إلها

فذاك الإله الحقُّ ليس يضاهى

فذاك الإله الحقُّ ليس يضاهى

When the clear revealed Law describes a god,

If the Noble Law describes a god

then that is the true God, beyond compare.

Then that is the true God, none can compare

ودَع عنك أفكاراً تنازع حكمة

ودَع عنك أفكاراً تنازع حكمة

فآلهةُ الأفكارِ لا تتناهى

فآلهةُ الأفكارِ لا تتناهى

And set aside thoughts that contend with wisdom,

And leave behind ideas that conflict with wisdom

for the gods of thought have no end.

For the gods of ideas know no bounds

وقد بلغتْ نفسي إذا هي أنصفت

وقد بلغتْ نفسي إذا هي أنصفت

وقالت بقولِ الشرعِ فيه مناها

وقالت بقولِ الشرعِ فيه مناها

And my soul has attained—when it dealt fairly

And my soul has attained, when it is just

and spoke of Him as the Law speaks—its desire.

And speaks with the word of the Law, its wishes

فيا قارىءَ القرآن شرعَك فالتزم

فيا قارىءَ القرآن شرعَك فالتزم

فما آيةٌ إلا يزيد رضاها

فما آيةٌ إلا يزيد رضاها

So, O reader of the Qur’an, hold fast to your Law,

So oh reader of the Quran, hold to your Law

for every verse increases its contentment.

For not an ayah but increases its blessings

وما طعمةُ الأفكارِ إلا تغصص

وما طعمةُ الأفكارِ إلا تغصص

إذا هي لم تبلغ لديه أناها

إذا هي لم تبلغ لديه أناها

And the food of thought is nothing but choking,

And not a morsel of ideas but chokes

if it has not attained its ripeness in His presence.

If it does not reach, with Him, its wishes
