We are God’s party—who will join us?

Our earnestness is earnest, and earnest is our jest.

He let those among His beloved behold the mysteries

whom He wills, and made us witness them.

So there we stoned the pillar of existence,

And we drew near in the closeness of union—did He

make the people hear the whispered converse of longings?

from the servant’s sobriety: in his drunkenness there appeared

to him the realm of command—so give us your ruling.

whose outward show harms, and he displays favors.
