    أبايعُه لأحظى بالأماني

    The Yemeni Corner is the Faithful One’s right hand;

    I pledge allegiance to it, that I may attain my wishes.

    A right hand with no veils, exalted

    above the veil—and the veils are twofold.

    By kissing it, I am safe from every evil

    that would consign me to the abode of disgrace.

    How delightful are the dune and its dwellers,

    in sight of the beautiful houris.

    She calls from her couch: “Contemplate

    a beauty with no equal in loveliness.”

    So renouncing created things counts for nothing,

    for existence springs from the secret of direct vision.

    فأعجب بالمعانِ عن المعاني

    So I pay no heed, nor lend it my ear;

    marvel, then, at the one aided away from meanings.
