شمس الهوى في النفوسِ لاحت

فأشرقت عندها القلوب

فأشرقت عندها القلوب

The sun of passion shone forth in souls;

The sun of love has risen in souls

and in its presence hearts grew radiant.

So hearts shone when it appeared

الحبُّ أشهى إليّ مما

الحبُّ أشهى إليّ مما

يقوله العارفُ اللبيبُ

يقوله العارفُ اللبيبُ

Love is sweeter to me than what

Love is dearer to me than what

the discerning knower says.

The wise and perceptive say

يا حبَّ مولاي لا تولِّ

يا حبَّ مولاي لا تولِّ

عني فالعيشُ لا يطيب

عني فالعيشُ لا يطيب

O love of my Lord, do not turn

O love of my Master, do not turn

away from me, for life is not sweet.

Away from me, for life is not sweet

لا إنس يصغو للقلبِ إلا

لا إنس يصغو للقلبِ إلا

إذا تجلَّى له الحبيب

إذا تجلَّى له الحبيب

No human listens to the heart except

No human listens to the heart unless

when the beloved reveals himself to it.

The Beloved manifests Himself to it
