The Benefactor establishes blessings whenever He wills,

Upon the one He willed, and his like came.

He generously bestowed favor, giving him hardship and guidance,

In meaning and sense, in bringing into being and sheltering.

By His generosity, gratitude for generosity appeared in a report:

Speaking of blessings was itself a blessing.

As kindness from God toward the greater part, at which

Our souls marveled when they brought forth a creation.

Indeed, whoever disputes about likenesses is envious.

He did not wish what I wished, but wished what I did not.

And it may be something good that we attain for ourselves,

For we know that the shadow of the likeness has returned.
