روح يذكر والأنثى طبيعته

فكل عينٍ فمن أنثى ومن ذَكَرِ

فكل عينٍ فمن أنثى ومن ذَكَرِ

Spirit is deemed masculine, and its nature is feminine;

The spirit recalls its feminine nature,

Thus every entity comes from a female and a male.

For every eye belongs to a female or male.

هذا فراش وذا سقف يظلله

هذا فراش وذا سقف يظلله

والأمر بينهما يجري على قدر

والأمر بينهما يجري على قدر

This is a bed, and that a roof that shades it;

This is a moth and that a roof shading it,

And the affair between them proceeds according to measure.

And what's between them flows according to fate.

لله حكم اقتدارٍ لا يزايله

لله حكم اقتدارٍ لا يزايله

كما القبولُ لنا فاسلك على أثري

كما القبولُ لنا فاسلك على أثري

To God belongs the rule of might, which never leaves Him,

God has a power of decree that nothing alters,

Just as receptivity is ours—so follow in my footsteps.

So accept it and follow in my footsteps.

والكون عن أصلِ شفعٍ لا وجودَ له

والكون عن أصلِ شفعٍ لا وجودَ له

في الوتر فاعلم وكن منه على حذر

في الوتر فاعلم وكن منه على حذر

And the cosmos springs from a paired origin; it has no existence

The universe has no origin in paired opposites,

In the unpaired—so know, and be on your guard against it.

In the odd numbers know this and beware.

والرابطُ الفردُ لا ينفك بينهما

والرابطُ الفردُ لا ينفك بينهما

لولاه ما كان ما شاهدت من صُوَرِ

لولاه ما كان ما شاهدت من صُوَرِ

And the single link never ceases to be between them;

The one link does not separate between them,

Without it, the forms you have witnessed would not exist,

Without it you'd not see any forms you see.

عقلاً وشرعاً وتنزيهاً لمعرفةٍ

عقلاً وشرعاً وتنزيهاً لمعرفةٍ

وليس في العلم إنْ أنصفتَ من خطر

وليس في العلم إنْ أنصفتَ من خطر

By reason and sacred law, and in affirming transcendence for the sake of knowledge;

Intellect and law and transcending knowledge,

And in knowledge there is no danger, if you are fair.

If you judge fairly, there is no flaw in learning.
